State Representative Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) is collaborating with the Town of Cortland and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office to organize a Senior Fraud Protection Event on May 29. The event, free to attend, will take place at the Cortland Lions Club located at 70 S. Llanos St. in Cortland at 2 p.m.
Experts from the Attorney General’s Office will provide information on recognizing scams aimed at stealing personal information, steps to stop such scams if targeted, and ways to seek help if one suspects they have been scammed or their identity stolen.
As fraud and identity theft scams targeting seniors increase, it becomes crucial for seniors and their caregivers to understand how to protect themselves in an evolving digital landscape.
