Belvidere Community Unit School District 100 Board of Education met May 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #100, Boone, McHenry, DeKalb Counties, Illinois met in a special meeting May 6, 2024, at 5:30 P.M. in the School Cafeteria at Perry Elementary School, located at 633 West Perry Street, Belvidere, Illinois, which is within the boundaries of said District.

A. Opening Items

Call to Order:

The President called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. with the pledge to the American Flag.

Roll Call:

Members present were Mrs. Brenner, Mr. Bucher, Mr. Herrera, Mrs. Houk, Ms. Maville, Mrs. Whitcomb, and Mr. Zickert.

President Brenner read the Board approved Meeting Norms and Board

Protocol.

B. Presentation Regarding the Potential Closure of Perry Elementary School

Dr. Schug presented the community with a presentation on potential reconfigurations for District 100 Schools, and possible closure of Perry Elementary School to include the following:

• Former Kishwaukee School Building

• Perry Elementary School

• Expansion of Early Childhood Program and Pre-K Center

• Expansion of Everest High School

• District 100 Welcome Center

• District 100 Clinic

• Update Facilities to include:

o Secure Entries

o Updated Restrooms

o Collaborative Spaces

C. Public Hearing Regarding the Potential Closure of Perry Elementary School

Members of the public and employees of District #100 were able to make comments or ask questions of the Board. The following individual addressed the Board regarding the closure of Perry Elementary School:

Hearing no one else wished to address the Board, President Brenner closed the public hearing.

D. Board Discussion Regarding the Potential Perry Closure

Each of the Board Members were able to make comments regarding the potential Perry closure.

E. Adjournment

Having no further business to conduct, Member Herrera made a motion and Member Maville seconded the motion to adjourn. The President called the question, and the motion passed on a voice vote.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
