Sandwich ranked 327th in state in lottery ticket sales for May 2016

The City of Sandwich had the 327th-highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016—down 31 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Sandwich were $22.84 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the DeKalb Times, Sandwich generated $168,219 in net sales from its 10 lottery retailers in May 2016, compared to $196,026 in May 2015.

The City of Sandwich is in DeKalb County and has a population of 7,366, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Plano, Somonauk and Lake Holiday.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 were $19,300.64.

Sandwich's top lottery retailer is the Shell Gas Station located at 110 N Main St, 60548.

The station generated 36 percent of Sandwich's May 2016 lottery ticket sales and 5 percent of DeKalb County's sales that month, which were $1,428,248.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DeKalb County in 2015 were Shabbona, Somonauk, Kirkland, Sandwich and Sycamore.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales—1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
