Sycamore, Ill. had the 279th highest per capita lottery ticket sales in the state during June, climbing 34 spots from its May ranking, according to sales records obtained by the DeKalb Times.
Sycamore's per capital ticket sales were $23.54, and the city generated $416,900 in net sales from its 18 lottery retailers in June 2016 compared to $405,327 in June 2015.
Average sales in municipalities in the region in June 2016 were $19,541.
Sycamore is in DeKalb County and has a population of 17,712, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Hy Vee Food Store #1642 located at 2700 DeKalb Ave. was Sycamore's top lottery retailer, generating 13 percent of Sycamore's June 2016 lottery ticket sales and 4 percent of the $14 million in sales registered in DeKalb County that month.
In 2015, the five cities in DeKalb County with the highest per capita lottery revenue were Shabbona, Somonauk, Kirkland, Sandwich and Sycamore.
The five cities with the highest per capita lottery revenue were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.
