Genoa ranked 582nd in state in lottery ticket sales for July 2016

The City of Genoa had the 582nd-highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of July 2016—down 79 spots from its June ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Genoa were $15.53 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the DeKalb Times, Genoa generated $80,680.50 in net sales from its five lottery retailers in July 2016, compared to $70,204.50 in July 2015.

The City of Genoa is in DeKalb County and has a population of 5,196, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in July 2016 were $19,374.65.

Genoa's top lottery retailer is the Genoa Mobil located at 439 W. Main St., 60135.

Genoa Mobil generated 40 percent of Genoa's July 2016 lottery ticket sales and 3 percent of DeKalb County's sales that month, which were $1,414,350.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DeKalb County in 2015 were Shabbona, Somonauk, Kirkland, Sandwich and Sycamore.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales—1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
