Somonauk Fire Protection District responded to 29 calls in 2017 - 32.6 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Somonauk included 14 fires - four structure fires, two vehicle fires and eight other fires.

In all, the department saw $52,500 in fire loss - or about $3,750 per fire.

The department also received 15 false calls.

The Somonauk Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $948,861 in 2017.
