Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.
Harry E. “Butch” Barber, 76 of Sheridan, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle, IL. He was born May 13, 1942 in Rockton, IL the son of Harrison and Annie (Parr) Barber. Harry proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Marathon Electric in Earlville, farmed in the area, was a truck driver, and owner/operator of Barber Trucking with his brother Fred. Butch was very social, he loved to visit with neighbors and friends all over. His greatest joy was family, friends, and playing cards.
He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Gale of Gulfport, MS and Hazel Sherman of Somonauk, IL; one brother, Fred Barber of Sheridan, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Florence Keele, one brother, Ernest “Jim” Barber and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Rockton Township Cemetery Rockton, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the funeral home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
