Report: Hiawatha spent $10,722 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Hiawatha Community Unit School District 426 is up 5.5 percent from five years ago, according to a DeKalb Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Dekalb County school district spent $10,165 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,722 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 611 to 515.

Hiawatha's spending in 2017-18 was 19.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
