Waterman Fire Protection Department responded to 28 calls in 2018 - 21.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Waterman included 21 fires - eight structure fires and 13 other fires.

In all, the department saw $10,500 in fire loss - or about $500 per fire.

The department also received seven false calls.

The Waterman Fire Protection Department had an annual budget of $211,076 in 2018.
