The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunities has announced a second round of funds in the Business Interruption Grant program.
The program's second installment will reportedly offer over $200 million in economic relief dollars to offset losses for small businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19. Accion, the BIG program's administrator, is now accepting applications for the program's second round. Small businesses from every Illinois county may apply using an online application.
In other DeKalb news, the Layne Christensen Co. is now reinstalling the well components in City Well No. 13 on Corporate Drive.
"The well components were removed for inspection as part of the City's Well Maintenance Program," DeKalb's newsletter reported. "All of the City's wells are inspected on a 10- to 15-year cycle."
During the inspection, the well's pump, motor and column piping are removed, inspected and serviced. DeKalb's Utility Department monitors the inventory of well component parts so that each well can be put back into operation as quickly as possible.
The newsletter said that any components removed during the inspection are repaired and put into the inventory for future use.
"Routine maintenance increases the production capacity of the well by up to 20 percent when worn components are replaced," said the newsletter, which noted Corporate Drives Well No. 13 has a pumping capacity of 800 gallons per minute. "Combined, the City's wells have the capacity to produce over 12 million gallons of water per day."
