17

Northern Illinois University issued the following announcement on Nov. 8

Northern Illinois University wide receiver Trayvon Rudolph earned his second Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honor of the season following his record-setting performance at Kent State as he was named MAC West co-Offensive Player of the Week award the league announced on Monday.

Rudolph recorded just the 25th 300-yard receiving day in NCAA FBS history at Kent State with 309 receiving yards on 14 catches, breaking the MAC and NIU records for receiving yards in a game. Rudolph's 309 yards rank as the 18th highest total recorded in a FBS game and are the most by any FBS player in 2021, while his 328 all-purpose yards (including 19 kickoff return yards) rank second.

The Crete, Ill native caught touchdown passes of 36, 75 and 34 yards. He is the first NIU player to record three receiving TDs in a game since 2011. Rudolph's 14 catches at Kent State tied him for second on the NIU single game list and are the most catches by a Huskie since 2016. He scored on a 75-yard pass play for the second consecutive week.

Rudolph, who earned MAC West Special Teams POTW following the Bowling Green game, is the third Huskie to receive multiple league honors this season, joining quarterback Rocky Lombardi (Maine, CMU) and tailback Harrison Waylee (Georgia Tech, Wyoming). Eight different Huskies have claimed 11 MAC West Player of the Week honors for their performances in eight games this season.

This is the sixth offensive player of the week honor for NIU this season, which also has three special teams player of the week and two defensive player of the week awards.

The Huskies (6-3, 4-1) are return home Wed., Nov. 10 when NIU welcomes Ball State (5-4, 3-2) to Huskie Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT and will be aired on ESPN2. Fans can purchase tickets, which start at $18, for the Huskies' final two home football games at NIUHuskies.com/MyHuskies or call 815-753-PACK.
