Village of Hinckley Planning Commission met Sept. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pritchard at 7:16 PM. Present: Chairman Robert Pritchard, Matt Bish, Steven Kreitzer, and Rodney Davis. Quorum Established.

Absent: John McFarland, Danielle Marion, and Rebecca Von Drasek.

Also Present: Village Clerk Elizabeth Losiniecki and members of the public.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The pledge to the flag was recited.

COMMENTS FROM PERSONS PRESENT:

None.

AGENDA ITEM: Previous Meeting Minutes – 08/02/21 Presentation and Vote

Steve Kreitzer moved to approve the meeting minutes from 08/02/21 and Matt Bish seconded the motion. Roll call vote: Bish-Aye, Davis-Aye, Kreitzer-Aye, Pritchard-Aye. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS

° Agenda item for discussion: Gathering data about prime properties for sale

Pritchard led a discussion regarding commercial properties for sale in town. He noted that several had recently sold. Neomek, Inc. purchased the Circle Systems properties at 140 Wahlgren and 479 W. Lincoln. The Welcome Matt, Laundromat and old 5/3 Bank buildings are up for sale. Two buildings on Route 30 also sold.

Pritchard and Constant met with members of the DeKalb County Economic Development group to discuss options for Hinckley. They will help market available properties once information is compiled.

° Agenda items for discussion: Review and Discuss 2003 Comprehensive Plan Pritchard provided the Comprehensive Plan for the city of Sycamore for review and comparison. He stated that Hinckley’s 2003 plan is missing significant sections. Members are encouraged to use sections of the Harvesting Our Future plan for inclusion in the updated comprehensive plan. Pritchard would like to focus on school district (# of students, school report card, safe routes to school). He also mentioned sidewalks, cul-de-sacs, and the community building.

Clerk Losiniecki suggested adding Tree City initiatives into the plan.

° Agenda items for discussion: Marketing Hinckley

Pritchard is seeking input on how best to market Hinckley.

NEW BUSINESS

- Gerald Bahl resigned from the Planning Commission. He will be replaced by Rebecca Von Drasek, who was sworn in on August 9, 2021.

PLANNING COMMISSIONER COMMENTS, PROJECT UPDATES AND OTHER INFORMATION

Pritchard stated that there will be a fine arts festival downtown the weekend of October 23rd, 2021. The Harvesting Our Future mural will be unveiled.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion: Matt Bish moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:03 pm and Steven Kreitzer seconded the motion. Voice vote: all in favor. Motion carried.
