Ronnie Bouemboue has joined the Northern Illinois University men's soccer staff as an assistant coach, Huskie head coach Ryan Swan announced on Monday (April 25). Bouemboue comes to DeKalb following two seasons as head coach at Eastern Illinois.

"We are delighted to have Ronnie join our staff," said Swan. "I have known him for a number of years through his time at Eastern Illinois and IUPUI and I have always been impressed by his professionalism and knowledge of the game. During the hiring process, I spoke to many people who knew or worked with Ronnie and everyone I spoke to was very complimentary of his character, work ethic and soccer IQ. I'm excited to have him here and look forward to working with him."

"I am super excited to be joining the NIU men's soccer program," said Bouemboue. "Coach Swan has built a great program and I look forward to contributing to the future success of Huskie men's soccer."

Bouemboue took over the Eastern Illinois program in February 2020 and helped the Panthers garner the Summit League Team Academic Award in 2020-21. He joined the Panthers from IUPUI, where he spent four seasons as an assistant coach (2016-19). During his time with the Jaguars, Bouemboue mentored a pair of Horizon League All-Freshman Team selections and helped IUPUI reach the 2018 Horizon League Tournament, its first postseason appearance in five seasons. Bouemboue was named to the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 program in August 2017.

Prior to his time at IUPUI, Bouemboue spent two seasons (2015-16) as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, North Carolina State, his second stint on the Wolfpack men's soccer staff.

Following an outstanding playing career at NC State, the Brooklyn, N.Y. native became the Director of Soccer Operations for the Wolfpack for three seasons (2010-12). During that time, he also worked as an assistant coach for the North Carolina Olympic Development Program and clubs in the Raleigh area.

Bouemboue spent two years as an assistant coach at Bradley (2013-14), helping the Braves win the Missouri Valley Conference championship and reach the NCAA Tournament in 2013.

As a player, Bouemboue was a two-time All-ACC honoree at NC State (2008 and 2009) and the only three-time All-ACC Tournament selection (2006, '08 and '09) in program history. Bouemboue ranks in the top-15 in NC State history in career points and career assists and was invited to the 2010 Major League Soccer combine.

Bouemboue earned his bachelor's degree in business administration (marketing) from NC State in 2008 and a master's in liberal arts from NC State in 2013.
