Any member of the public may address the Committee for up to 3 minutes on any topic of their choosing. There will be no yielding of time to other members of the public and agenda time for public comments is limited to 30 minutes in total.

5. Resolutions

a. Resolution R2024-071—A Resolution Congratulating the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation on Regaining Sovereign Lands in DeKalb County.

On April 19th, 2024, the United States Department of Interior announced their decision to recognize the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation sovereignty over portions of land owned by the Nation in Southern DeKalb County. This decision makes the Prairie Band Potawatomi the first federally recognized Tribal Nation in the State of Illinois. The Federal Government’s decision is a historic moment in the history of the State of Illinois and DeKalb County. Resolution R2024-071 congratulates the Nation on regaining sovereign lands in DeKalb County. 6. Considerations
