Rep. Robert Pritchard (R-Hinckley) joined approximately half of the Republicans in the House in helping to pass a budget appropriations amendment shortly before fiscal year 2017 ended.
At the time, the vote was considered an important step toward passing a plan, according to the Associated Press (AP).
The Democratic-proposed Senate Bill 6 outlines a $36 billion state budget for fiscal year 2018, which began on July 1. The bill would also cut spending by more than $2 billion and raise the state's personal income tax to bring in $5 billion more in revenue, according to the AP.
Senate Bill passed the House officially on Monday and now awaits a Senate vote.
