DEKALB POLICE DEPARTMENT: Police Department Reminds Residents to "Lock It or Lose It"

Dekalb Police Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.

The DeKalb Police Department is investigating a number of recent burglaries where vehicles were entered and property was stolen. These burglaries typically occur late at night and the suspects prey on vehicles that are left unlocked. Several incidents, which took place in the 500 block of Fisk and 600 block of N. The Police Department reminds all residents to “Lock it or Lose It” when it comes to car burglaries. It is best to lock all cars when they parked outside. Do not leave valuables in a car or hide them if they must stay, and park in well lit areas to deter burglaries.

Anyone who recognizes the individuals in the videos is encouraged to call the DeKalb Police Department at 815-748-8400. Anonymous tips can be sent via text to the Police Department by texting a message beginning with ALERTDEKALB to 67283. Individuals can also contact the DeKalb County Crime Stoppers at 815-895-3272 or crimestoppers@dekalbcounty.org. Information that leads to an arrest could result in a cash award of up to $1,000.
