BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN CHURCH: 4th Grade Milestone

Church stock 01

Bethlehem Lutheran Church issued the following announcement.

Our kids are incredibly preceptive about life and it is great to see them grow, learn, and engage with the world around them. One of the primary ways kids engage with the world is by asking questions which include questions about the Christian faith. 4th grade is about the time kids start asking the kind of questions about their faith that leaves many parents struggling to respond. That is GOOD!

Honestly, we do not come to faith simply by checking our brains at the door and accepting whatever our church leaders say without question. No, developing a deeper faith comes from ASKING QUESTIONS, lots of questions, deep questions, TOUGH QUESTIONS! Many 4th graders ask questions like: Why did my grandma die of cancer when we prayed for her to be healed? Is God real? Why does God kill so many people in the Noah and the Ark story? Is there a Heaven and what is it like?

As such, this year we are inviting fourth grade families to take part in the “Asking Tough Questions Milestone.” We are offering two dates for this milestone during our faith formation times: Sunday, January 13, 2019 (10:10 - 10:50am) OR Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 (5:45 - 6:30pm). Please choose the date that works best for your family.

We will be lifting up this milestone during worship. Those attending the milestone on Sunday are asked to come to the 9am service while those attending the milestone on Wednesday are invited to come to the 6:30pm service.

Please register online http://www.bethlehemlutheran.org/milestones for this meaningful and important event by January 5. If you are receiving a paper copy, you can access the registration by going online to www.bethlehemlutheran.org and select “Milestones” from the “Kids/Teens/Families” menu.
