Former state university employee Zick paid in $46K to pension fund, could collect $847K in retirement

Former state university employee Jackie Zick, who retired in July 2016, saved $45,696 toward a pension over 18 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Zick would collect as much as $846,823, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes DeKalb Times.

The projection assumes Zick received $17,799 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Zick will have already received $55,015 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
