Genoa-Kingston Community Unit School District #424 Board of Education met Sept. 11.

Call to Order
Board President, Kristen Andrews called the Genoa-Kingston CUSD #424 Special Board of Education Meeting to order at 9:38 am.
Roll Call: Dr. Brynteson, Dr. Hintzsche, Mrs. Ratliff, Mr. Wesner, Mrs. Andrews
Physically Present: Andrews, Brynteson
Also Physically Present: Superintendent, Brent O’Daniell and Administrative Assistant, Kristie Mulso
Virtually Present: Hintzsche, Ratliff, Wesner
Absent: Cleveland
Pledge of Allegiance
Superintendent, Brent O’Daniell led guests and members of the Board of Education in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mission Statement
Board Vice President, KA read the Mission Statement "Preparing students to excel and contribute to their community."
Public hearings, petitions, questions, and comments from guests and visitors
There were no public hearings, petitions, questions, and/or comments from guests and visitors.
Approval of Board Member Appointment
Mrs. Andrews commented on the need to appoint a new board member due to the recent vacancy left by Mr. Shipley in July. The board held a Special Board of Education Meeting on September 8, 2020 to interview three potential candidates. After the interview process the board was in consensus to select Mrs. Stephanie Northrup as the Genoa-Kingston Board of Education’s newest board member.
A motion was made by Dr. Brynteson, and seconded by Mr. Wesner, to approve the appointment of Mrs. Stephanie Northrup to the Genoa-Kingston CUSD #424 Board of Education.
Ayes: Brynteson, Wesner, Andrews
Nays: Ratliff, Hintzsche
Absent: Cleveland
Motion Carried.
Approval of Memorandum of Understanding Between GK CUSD#424 and Genoa Kingston Education Association
Mr. O’Daniell commented on the Memorandum of Understanding Between GK CUSD#424 and Genoa Kingston Education Association.
A motion was made by Dr. Brynteson, and seconded by Dr. Hintzsche, to approve the Memorandum of Understanding Between GK CUSD#424 and Genoa Kingston Education Association as presented.
Ayes: Hintzsche, Ratliff, Wesner, Brynteson, Andrews
Nays: 0
Absent: Cleveland
Motion Carried.
Mr. O’Daniell commented on an email sent to board members.
Mr. Wesner recognized the anniversary of September 11.
Mr. O’Daniell commented on the district and buildings commemorating September 11 and remembering those that lost their lives on this tragic day.

A motion was made by Mr. Wesner, and seconded by Dr. Hintzsche, to adjourn the Special Board of Education Meeting at 9:43 am.
