City of Sycamore City Council met May 20.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
ROLL CALL
Mayor Braser called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and City Clerk Mary Kalk called the roll. Those Alderpersons present were Virginia Sherrod, Chuck Stowe, Alan Bauer, Ben Bumpus, Nancy Copple, Alicia Cosky, Jeff Fischer, and Pete Paulsen. Attorney Kevin Buick was also present.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION
Alderperson Copple motioned to approve the agenda and Alderman Fischer seconded the motion.
VOICE VOTE
Mayor Braser called for a voice vote to approve the motion. All Alderpersons voted aye. Motion carried 8-0.

A. Approval of the Minutes for the Regular City Council Meeting of May 6, 2024
B. Payment of the Bills for May 20, 2024, in the amount of $1,221,637.57.
MOTION
Alderman Bauer motioned to approve the Consent Agenda and Alderman Stowe seconded the motion.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Mayor Braser called for a roll call vote to approve the motion. Alderpersons Sherrod, Stowe, Bauer, Bumpus, Copple, Cosky, Fischer, and Paulsen voted aye. Motion carried 8-0.
PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, AND BILLS
A. A Proclamation Declaring May 19th through May 25th, 2024, as Public Works Week in the City of Sycamore, Illinois.
B. A Proclamation Declaring May 19th through May 25th, 2024, as Emergency Medical Services Week in the City of Sycamore, Illinois.
C. A Proclamation Declaring the Month of May 2024 as Motorcycle Awareness Month in the City of Sycamore, Illinois. D. Presentation of Plans for July 27th Streamwood FD Tour and Workshop for New Fire Station 1.
City Manager Michael Hall said he would like to hold a SPECIAL City Council Meeting in Streamwood on Saturday, July 27th at 9:00 am where the public is invited. No action will be taken, but it will be an opportunity to see their fire house as it is extremely close to the plans for Sycamore as per the PowerPoint included here within. He highlighted the five areas that will be toured, the base plan, and two alternate plans. He noted that no more than two alderpersons can be in the same car. More information will be sent out closer to the date.
REPORT OF OFFICERS
City Engineer Mark Bushnell said that prior to the next council meeting, work on Somonauk Street will start. There will be a message board up and notices will go out.

CONSIDERATIONS
A. Consideration of an Administrative Recommendation to Award a Contract to the Lowest Responsible Bidder for the 2024 Motor Fuel Tax Project
City Manager Micheal Hall said bids were open May 17th with the lowest bidder being Curran Construction at $866, 238.46.

Alderman Fischer motioned to approve the Consideration and Alderperson Copple seconded the motion.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Mayor Braser called for a roll call vote to approve the motion. Alderpersons Sherrod, Stowe, Bauer, Bumpus, Copple, Cosky, Fischer, and Paulsen voted aye. Motion carried 8-0.
APPOINTMENTS
OTHER NEW BUSINESS
Alderperson Cosky reported that the DeKalb County History Center is working on the Food Exhibit collaboratively with The Smithsonian where they have received sponsorship donations from Meta, Old National Bank, and Suter Company. For their campus vision, they were awarded $100,000 from the DeKalb County Community Foundation. She also reported that they did very well in the Give DeKalb County Day with 160 donors up to $34,300.

Alderman Stowe motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and Alderman Paulsen seconded the motion.

Mayor Braser called for a voice vote to approve the motion. All Alderpersons voted aye. Motion carried 8 -0.
