DeKalb County Forest Preserve Operations Committee met Sept. 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Forest Preserve Operations Committee of the DeKalb County Board met at the Hoppe Heritage Farmstead and South Prairie Branch in Kingston, Illinois on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Chair Roy Plote called the meeting to order at 6:09pm. Those Members present were Mary Cozad, Meryl Domina, and Ben Haier. A quorum was established with four Members present and two Members absent. The Committee has one vacancy.

Forest Preserve Superintendent Terry Hannan was also present.

Stewart Ogilvie arrived at 6:17pm.

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

Haier moved to approve the agenda as presented. Domina seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

It was moved by Cozad, seconded by Haier and was carried unanimously to approve the minutes of the August 29, 2024 Forest Preserve Operations Committee Meeting.

There were no public comments.

PRESENTATIONS / DISCUSSIONS

Mr. Hannan distributed and reviewed the Quarterly Report of the DeKalb County Forest Preserve District for the months of July/August/September 2024. To view the report on the website, please visit the link below:

Mr. Hannan reported that the closing date for the section of land from Douglas Adkins is tomorrow, September 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The acquisition will complete the Genoa to Kingston Trail (G2K Trail).

Mr. Hannan presented a brief history of the Hoppe Heritage Farmstead/Miller Ellwood Cabin/South Branch Prairie, a 60-acre site that was home to the Hoppe family for over 140 years. To view the Forest Preserve on the website, please visit the link below:

Forest Preserve Commission Members were provided with the opportunity to file an appeal concerning

Administration budget recommendations. Appeals must have been filed by September 22, 2024. There were no appeals.

Mr. Hannan stated he includes information for future long-term and short-term projects, as shown in the

FY2025 budget letter provided in the budget packet, noting the funds are put into designated restricted and assigned reserve funds.

Haier moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:45pm. Ogilvie seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.
