DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board Finance Committee met Nov. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee Members Present: Perry Maier, Meghan Cook

Office staff: Deanna Cada, Heaven Allem

Other Persons Present:

Committee Members Not Present: Marilyn Stromborg

1. Call to Order

Mr. Maier called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm

2. Approval of Agenda

Ms. Cook moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Mr. Maier. The motion passed unanimously.

3. Approval of Minutes

Mr. Maier moved to approve the minutes of the 10/08/2024 meeting, seconded by Ms. Cook. The motion passed unanimously.

4. Office Report

• Ms. Cada shared that she attended Recover-con; Ms. Cada shared that it was well attended and organized

• Ms. Cada shared that she has been in talks with Jennifer Curtains (from NM) about a training series regarding Transgender Clients. Ms. Cada shared there will be many opportunities for training. In March 2025, we are looking to host staff and medical professional training. Ms. Cada shared that it would cost under $1000 for 3 trainings

• Ms. Cada shared that the county budget is up for approval on November 20th. Ms. Cada requested to move up New Business section C: Family Service Agency Capital Request.

C: Family Service Agency Capital Request—Ms. Cada introduced Tyniesha Clegg, the Director of the Family Service Agency. Ms. Clegg talked about the need to expand the facility and utilize the previous drive-thru area for additional client spaces.

6. Approval of November 2024 Claims

a. Tabled to Full Board

7. Old Business

a. Grant Year 2026 Grant Application & Process/Grant Seekers Workshop – Ms. Cada shared that she will begin working with the Community Foundation tomorrow (11/6) to start working on Quarterly reports. Ms. Cada shared she is hoping to have it all completed by December 1st. The Full Board will approve the Grant Year 2026 Application at the November 18th Meeting.

8. New Business

a. Executive Director & Administrative Assistance Evaluation & Compensation – Possible Closed Session. (Exception (1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees) – Tabled to Executive Committee

b. Finance Committee Members & Chairperson – Ms. Cada shared Dr. Stromborg will be out until April 2025. Ms. Cada shared Lana Haines has offered to step in as a Finance Committee Member. Ms. Cada shared the following appointments:

Lana Haines – Interim Vice Chair until Dr. Stromborg returns

Perry Maier – Interim Finance Chairperson until Dr. Stromborg returns

c. Family Service Agency Capital Request – Moved up in the agenda

d. Vision Grant Applications – Possible Action

i. DeKalb Area Alano Club

Ms. Cook moved the DeKalb Area Alano Club Vision Grant to the Full Board for Approval, seconded by Mr. Maier. The motion passed unanimously.

ii. Other? – Ms. Cada shared with the committee that there have been 5 applications, and three have been approved so far. Ms. Cada shared that the deadline is November 29th for the vision grant.

9. One-Year and Three-Year Plan Goals –

a. CEBiB Outreach Strategy updates – Purchase update – Ms. Cada shared the CEBiB purchases with the Finance Committee.

10. Date of next meeting: December 3, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

11. Adjournment

Ms. Cook moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Maier. The motion passed unanimously.
