Speaking on the House floor, State Representative Jeff Keicher criticized Democrat policies, claiming they are responsible for Illinois' unemployment rate remaining significantly higher than the national average. According to Keicher, Illinois' unemployment rate stands at 4.1%, more than a full percentage point above the national figure of 5.2%. He stated that this discrepancy results in over 70,000 additional lost jobs and an average loss of $4.2 billion in wages that could benefit workers and the state's economy.
