DeKalb County Veterans Assistance Commission met May 12.

Meeting started at 5:59pm with President Celeste Latham presiding.
Board Members Present: President Celeste Latham, Vice President H. James Cox, Treasurer Bob Coulter, Director Bob Bend, Director Ed McComb and acting Secretary Tammy Anderson.
Delegate/Alternate: Gerald Drake (D), Joseph Hodder (D), Charlotte Hodder (A), Dwain Adkins (D), George Schippits (D), and William Lambert (A).
Guest: Jessica Morganegg, Office Manager/VSO Assistant
Public Comment: N/A
Meeting Minutes: The April 14th, 2025 meeting minutes were reviewed. No corrections made - Minutes passed.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Bob Coulter provided April 2025 beginning balance of $5,928.30 with one deposit of $25.00 making the ending balance $5,953.30. Treasurer Coulter also provided information on the $5,000.00 CD - he rolled over the CD for another year & the interest made of $256.13 was placed in an Interest Bearing Money Market Account. Time constraints required quick action, Treasurer Coulter made the decision to roll over the CD and was given the permission by the Commission to act accordingly in regards to the actions required with the CD. Motion was made by Ed McComb to accept the Treasurer's report as presented subject to audit, seconded by Bill Lambert subject to audit - Vote called - Motion passed.

A motion was made by Bob Bend to approve April's monthly expenses as presented, seconded by Ed McComb - Roll Call Vote - Motion Passed.
Committee Reports: A flyer was provided in the meeting packet (see attached), DeKalb American Legion Post #66 flyer for Memorial Day events was provided (see attached).
Unfinished Business: Jessica provided information on DCVAC's procedures for Veterans Trip Registration and for Volunteer Drivers (see attached). Discussion was made in regards to who would be eligible to receive rides from the DCVAC office, examples were: All DeKalb County Veterans, Veterans involved in the DeKalb County Veterans Community, VA Claims executed from the DCVAC office requiring Compensation Exams, etc. The Commission agreed that the eligibility of Veterans receiving rides from DCVAC would be at the discretion of the Superintendent.
