Cortland home prices rise in the first quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2017 in Cortland rose by $21,375.50 while total sales decreased by 50%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2017, there were two homes sold, with a median sale price of $111,975.50 - a 23.6% increase over the $90,600 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were four homes sold in Cortland in the first quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Cortland for 2017 was $5,249.94. In 2016, the median sales tax was $4,993. This marks an increase of 5.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 4.7%.
