Rep. Bob Pritchard (R-Hinckley) might not be a teacher, but he can still assign some homework, it seems.

Pritchard has announced another round of a summer reading program for grade school students in District 70, according to a press release. Children who read at least eight books will enjoy an ice cream party in August.

“Encouraging reading is a foundation to learning,” Pritchard said, adding that reading in the summer can help boost a child’s learning curve when school begins again in the fall, according to the release.

“Being a member of my summer reading club is an easy and fun way to participate in the interesting and adventurous world of literature," Pritchard says on his website. "Experts and parents agree that reading makes a big difference in development of a child’s intellect, artistic skills and imagination."

Forms are due back in Pritchard's office by July 21. Parents and children can learn more about the program and its rules in the summer reading brochure

Rep. Pritchard can also be contacted at his district office at 815-748-3494.
